Go to the Dentist and Save Your Marriage
Part 1 of a 2 part series
Go to the dentist and save your marriage. What’s that all about you ask?
Did you know that approximately 23% of couples sleep in separate rooms due to one partner’s consistent, loud snoring? The non-snoring partner loses, on average, one hour of sleep a night due to the snoring. In addition, snoring and other loud noises can raise the blood pressure of the non-snoring partner.
Most people don’t think much about snoring, perhaps considering it comical. But snoring is no laughing matter. It may indicate a life threatening condition called obstructive sleep apnea. Snoring indicates a resistance, or even a collapse, of the airway, making it difficult to get the proper oxygen inspired to fuel the rest of the organs. No oxygen = death.
Forty percent of snorers have been shown to have sleep apnea. Best figures indicate that sleep apnea is present in 20% of the population, which is 1 out of 5 people. The bigger problem is that it is undiagnosed in 90% of that population.
